The support from the Netherlands Government has enabled the construction of JLOS service points across the country, providing accommodation for the Courts, Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), Uganda Police, Uganda Prisons, and regional offices for Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Tax Appeals Tribunal, Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, Uganda Human Rights Commission and Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
The support of the Government and the people of Netherlands has contributed to the reduction of crime and the strengthening of law enforcement, making Uganda one of the safest countries to live in with a crime rate of 304 out of every 100,000 people. The support has improved the climate of doing business thus creating a conducive environment for investment, economic growth and overall development. Particular regard is given to support to construction of JLOS infrastructure across the country that has provided improved working conditions for JLOS staff, easy access to JLOS services especially for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized. As a result, JLOS services can now be accessed within a radius of 15kms.
We look forward to a continuing and fruitful partnership in implementing the JLOS Third Strategic Investment Plan (SIP III) to strengthen the delivery of justice services, improve human rights and accountability with a view of promoting justice for all and building a world that respects the rule of law.
