As part of its transitional justice programme activities, the sector undertook a field outreach sensitisation in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, pader, Gulu, Amuru and Nwoya between May 28 – June 29, 2012. The outreach commenced with pre- visits with the objective of mobilizing and informing the relevant stakeholders on the actual outreach sessions. This included meetings with local government representatives, Resident District Coordinators, traditional/cultural leaders, representatives of civil society organizations active in these areas. Truth-telling is highly valued amongst victims and war-affected communities to achieve meaningful justice after conflict. Truth-telling gives priority to victims to provide accounts of their experiences during the war and seeks to restore the dignity to victims. It also contributes to achieving reconciliation amongst war-torn communities.
